Why I massively changed my business…

Hello, dear reader,

The time has come to fill you in about what’s happened over the past year, and why.

But before I do that, I want to acknowledge that you’re here, reading this. Thank you. I can’t believe you’re still here! It really means a lot to me.

For years, I’ve taught that if you take care of your customers – through doing good work, telling the truth, and being of real service – your customers will take care of you.

Whether you’ve bought something from me, or you’ve come to a webinar or you’ve told a friend to check out my work, thank you. I continue to be well taken care of, thanks to all of you.

Now, onward!

Here’s what you need to know about the changes I’ve made here at Stella Orange over the last year:

1) Stella Orange is no longer a marketing and messaging company. I still do that work. I continue to write websites, email sales campaigns, and advise business owners on what to say in their marketing webinars and online presentations… but I do it under the Orange, Liston, & Dew brand.

I decided to radically change my business because I wanted to be even more creative with the marketing and sales campaigns I create, and to do that, I needed to join forces with two business coaches and strategists. I’ve written email campaigns that make tens of thousands of dollars, BUT I want to do more. I want those campaigns to make money, yes, AND I want them to be creative and fresh and different. I needed more brains to do that than you get working alone. So I got business partners.

2) I grew weary of watching so many business owners believing ideas I’m actively fighting against. Over the years, I’ve listened to scores of people talk about how they are destined for greatness, or will build a million dollar business through manifestation, or something similarly delusional. And I held my tongue.

I held my tongue because it wasn’t my place to give business advice.

But the truth is, I don’t want to help any of those people.

Because I’m not that into ‘being big’… or ‘being in a room of multi-millionaires’… or ‘being famous’.

That stuff just isn’t my jam.

There’s nothing wrong with that stuff.

It’s just that I don’t find it that interesting.

Now… People who dig doing things differently!

Conversations!

Building singular businesses that serve people thoughtfully!

That’s more my speed.

Those are my people.

So I decided to radically change my businesses to work with the people I want to serve the most — people who are building businesses because they love people and they love their work. Period. I want to help those people build companies and legacies and families and neighborhoods.

3) You can still hire me to write for you. I’ve recently reconnected with two past clients who told me “Geez, Stella, I didn’t think I could still hire you.” Let’s clean that up right now – Yes, you can still hire me to write for you! And if that’s too expensive, I continue to teach workshops to make what you write better, too.

Hope this helps clear up some of the confusion. And by all means, get in touch if you want to work together – on your writing or on building your business. Here’s a link to set up a time to chat (and be sure to put “I want to talk to Stella Orange” somewhere in there so you get scheduled with me!).

More changes coming soon – I’ll do my best to keep you in the loop!

Big love,

Stella Orange is a copywriter who helps people put their work into words. For eight years, she wrote email campaigns that resulted in more than a million dollars in sales for her clients. In that time, Stella also taught popular marketing writing workshops to business owners on both sides of the Atlantic -- and a few in Australia and New Zealand. In 2017, Stella cofounded a creative and consulting shop offering a complete and slightly unorthodox line of business advising and marketing services. She continues to write copy and advise clients on customer delight, how to resonate with more sophisticated, discerning clientele in your marketing, and just who, exactly, your ideal clients are. Stella is the founder of Show Up And Write, a weekly writing group and writes a letter every two weeks or so (here’s the sign-up). She lives with the Philosopher and their two kiddos in Buffalo, New York, a fifteen-minute bike ride to the Canadian border.
