So That Your Ideal Clients Can Start

And You FINALLY Start Playing
The Bigger Online Marketing Game
Dear business owner,
- Are you planning to launch a program this spring – and want
to write a page for your website?
- Have you bitten off a whole lot to chew with writing your
own web copy and figuring out what you need to start selling direct
from your website?
- Do you spend too much time filling programs with phone
calls, running yourself ragged in the process?
- Do you have a website that DESCRIBES your programs and
products, but needs more VIVID, JUICY DETAIL about how they will make
the buyer's life better (And you're not quite sure how to do it)?
- Are you ready to sign people up for your calls and programs
through your website – so that you can stop spending so much of your
time on registration?
These are some real challenges that come up at a certain stage in your
business.
That stage where you're ready to
make your website a bigger part of the
way you do business, but it's not something you already know how to do.
You might have the idea that you want to have a website that does more
than look pretty and get compliments from your friends, but where do
you start?
And what on this good, green earth do you do first?
Maybe you know it's high time you added a sales page to your website.
You know which program or which e-book you want visitors to be able to
buy. Maybe you've even added a "register now" or "buy now" button to
your website—but it's not getting any results.
You've got a lot of ideas, a lot of questions, and a lot of work to do.
It may even be your first time writing a web page that invites people
to take action, or sells your products, or invites your ideal clients
to sign up for a call with you.
You are
gaining momentum in your business. You are just catching a
glimpse of what's on the horizon for you and your work – and it's
actually pretty awesome. But how in the heck are you going to tackle
this next project or solve this puzzle of writing to move people to
take action… and what exactly do you need to do?!
"Welcome to Charm School, my
dears!"
Stella Orange here. Hi, there. I'm thrilled that you're reading this
right now. Here's why: you've rounded the bend on certain fundamentals
about running your business, and you're looking for more. More ways to
reach out. More people to work with and serve. And yes, more revenue.
And you've also got questions. So many questions! You could
fill up a
jar will all of the questions!
Which is why I created Charm School for Sales Pages. It's a program
designed to show you the ropes of writing a web page that sells
directly from your website—so that you can write your own sales pages
that move people to take action and sign up for a teleseminar, register
for your next program, hire you, or buy your awesome product…. Direct
from your website.

What's a Sales Page and why do
I need one?
There are web pages, and then there are Sales Pages. It's easy to get
them confused—and
a lot of business owners mix 'em up—so stick with me.
The easiest way to tell the difference between a Sales Page and a
Regular Ole Web Page is to listen to what they say.
A Sales Page says: "hey, look how
awesome and
helpful this
ooh-la-la
is. Here, give me the pleasure of showing you. Now, wouldn't you like
one?"
A Regular Ole Web Page says: "Here's a thing."
PLONK.
In Stella's world, a Sales Page charms and flirts. A Regular Ole Web
Page takes herself far too seriously, and talks way too much about
herself. She doesn't try to connect with her readers, and she certainly
doesn't ask for what she wants in a way that charms, delights and gets
people excited.
Most websites are made up of Regular Ole Web Pages, which is fine. You
need to give information about your business, services and products.
But when you want people to TAKE ACTION on your website, you cross over
a threshold. You're in SALES COUNTRY. And in Sales Country, they speak
a
different language. This is the language you'll learn to see—and
start to use fluently—in Charm School.
"As
a professional copywriter,
I write sales pages for my clients across the country—
and now, I'd like to show you the surefire system
that you can use again and again to move people
to TAKE ACTION... right there on the spot"
Would you like to know a bit about me? Before I was a freelance
copywriter, I wrote direct response fundraising letters for a
non-profit art center.
My whole mission was to make the case for
donating money so that more
kids could have access to art. To a pottery studio. To cool artists,
young and old, who were passionate about creative expression and
imagination, and knew how to share that fire with kids.
Back then, "
selling" wasn't a word in my vocabulary. But "
persuasion"
certainly was.
It was my job to persuade people that art matters. That creativity
matters. That kids and community and grassroots involvement matters.
Before that, I taught high school. I worked in an alternative school in
the basement of a Presbyterian Church in Seattle. (Get this: the name
of the school was "Everyone Has a Song." How awesome is that?)
My students had either
flunked out,
dropped out, or
been arrested out of regular school.
And it was my job to
persuade them that I was someone worth tuning in
to. Me, with my straight A report card in regular school, and my bright
ideas about tolerance and civic participation and teachers not having
all the answers (but knowing how to ask the good questions).
You know the expression "that's a tough sell?"
Working with teenagers is a tough sell.
So that's how I first learned to "sell". I share all this with you
because that's how I want more business owners to approach "selling."
As a
mission. As spreading YOUR
message. As persuading people to trust,
like, listen to, and work with you.
Because while the idea of selling might not fire up your
inner Viking
warrior… if you can help people, AND do what you love, AND pay your
bills, AND live debt-free, AND have some moolah left over to travel, or
treat your friends to dinner AND give away to the causes you care most
about—
why pass up that golden opportunity?
What You'll Learn in Charm
School
Charm School for Sales Pages is Stella Orange's love letter to "Do It
Yourselfers." I usually write sales pages for my clients, who don't
have the time to DIY… and have the budget to pay for a "done for you"
service.
So I decided to take what I do for my clients, and show you how to do
it for your business. Because it's not rocket science, but you really
do need to know certain things about
words,
psychology, and
selling to
actually write a good sales page that wins you clients and customers.
Charm School for Sales Pages is a four-week program where you will
learn the fundamentals of writing a sales page… as you actually write
one.
It will work best if you are planning to launch a program, host a
teleseminar or telesummit, register people for an event or workshop, or
sell a product you already have.
This is because at the end of March,
you will have a sales page that's
ready to use on your website. (So if you just want the information, you
are most welcome, but be prepared for me to nudge you to pick one of
your packages, programs, or products to write about.)

The Charm School for Sales
Pages Curriculum
By the end of the 4-week program, you will have a complete sales page,
and a working understanding of how to write web copy that gets readers
to TAKE ACTION. You'll also learn ways to drive traffic to your
website, using the resources you've got now, wherever you are (a
mailing list, social media, an enewsletter).
Week 1: How to Chew With
Your Mouth Closed—Think Before You Write
You'll come to our first
class with your pre-homework in hand (A+ for you!), so you'll already
be thinking about your product or service on a level most business
owners never do. This week, we'll talk about the 5 questions you need
to answer in loving detail before you write your sales page. And we'll
review examples of great sales pages, so you know what it looks like.
Your homework this week will be to bang out what writer Annie Lamott
calls a "shitty first draft" of your sales page.
Week 2: Mind Your
Posture—Get Your Ideas Into the Sales Page Structure
Moving right along, Stella
will field your questions, and we'll blaze ahead, talking about the
elements in every sales page, and the reason why they are there. This
is the chance to study the work of other copywriters, and figure out
what you need to include in your sales page to maximize response. With
this info, you'll go back on your own and revise your first draft,
adding more structure to your ideas.
Week 3: How to Be a
Charming Companion—Techniques to Make Your Sales Page Sing, Dance, and
Sell
With the "shape" of your
sales page coming into view, we'll kick it up a notch. This week,
you'll learn some simple techniques from direct response
copywriting—the grandmamma of selling with words--and together we'll
practice how to put those techniques into your sales page.
And then it's off to write
your FINAL DRAFT!
Week 4: Off to the
Debutante's Ball—Plan for your Launch & Set Up Your Systems
Once you have a charming,
smart sales page, Stella will sit you down one-on-one for a private
talk about the "birds & bees" of selling through your website.
You'll make a plan for getting visitors to your sales page, and get a
sample calendar to help you pull it off seamlessly. We'll also talk
about ways you can automate more of your website, so you can go off
dancing while the computers do all the work. And then, it's off to the
online marketing ball!
What else will I get from
attending Charm School?
In addition to finishing your very own sales page, you will get:
- 4 group mentoring sessions ($900 value)
- Worksheets and handouts to help you build a strong,
irrestible message ($47)
- Ideas for how to "get in the mood", get it done, and have
more fun when you write (If Stella had a magic client attraction
perfume for you, this is it.)
- A sample launch calendar you can use to plan every
marketing campaign for the rest of your life ($47 value)
- A private one-on-one session with Stella Orange to review
your progress, get your questions answered, and help you build momentum
(Week 3 or 4) ($125 value)
- Bonus Review of the sales page you wrote – with custom
feedback about what's great, and what needs more attention ($250 value)
- How to track the response you get, so you know what's
working—plus a spreadsheet to record your results for your sales pages.
($27 value)
Yes, Virginia, this is a copywriting course, but Charm School for Sales
Pages will also give you a whole lot of
training,
strategy and
mentorship. Did you read the part about
results—and the part about how
we are going to have
FUN as we work?
This ain't your grandmama's Charm School…
I truly want you to understand more about writing compelling copy—so
that you can use what you learn to write all your future sales pages…
and to write smarter, more charming copy for your articles, blog posts,
social media, media kit, bios, email broadcasts, autoresponders,
proposals, and more.
"Before
working with Stephanie, I was somewhat at a loss in putting together
copy for my website pages. I could create the content, but not in a way
that someone with the perspective that she takes when putting together
copy. Her perspective takes what's important
and of value about your business and mixes
in your own personal appeal, so your viewers get a personal
feel about you from viewing your site. I think that is extremely
valuable in today's marketplace."
- Ann Reynolds, Founder
& Educator, Wine Compliance Alliance
How do I know if Charm School
is right for me?
Great question, because there's no such thing as one size fits all.
(Unless it's a really long scarf.)
Charm School for Sales Pages is a four-week program where you will
learn the fundamentals of writing a sales page… as you actually write
one. It's going to work best if you are already planning to launch a
program, host a teleseminar or telesummit, register people for an event
or workshop, or sell a product you already have.

you will have a sales page
that's ready to use on your website. (So if you just want the
information, you are most welcome, but be prepared for me to nudge you
to pick one of your packages, programs, or products to write about.)
So…
If you're ready to write… and
you are looking for more information about how this whole online
marketing game really WORKS…
If you've seen what others write on their
sales pages, and you are itching to know why they're doing it the way
they are—and how to do it for your business…
If you're a "pretty good" writer, but want
more CONFIDENCE when you write (which is KEY when it comes to selling
through your website)
If you are sending enewsletters or emails to your list,
and aren't seeing much response, but don't know why…
…then Charm School for Sales Pages is right for you.

Why learn with you, Stella?
Ah, my dear, wise owl. Only you can decide this. But here are some
little nuggets about me that might help you discern whether you and I
are two peas in a pod:
- I got into copywriting through the backdoor. I used to
write direct response copywriting letters for a non-profit community
center in Montana. I also used to write and direct short
plays at my local theater. I even got to study playwriting at NYU for a
summer!
- I used to teach high school (I have a Masters in Teaching
from the University of Washington and taught at an alternative school
in Seattle.)
- I filled my copywriting business within a year of opening
my practice, using my website, email, and referrals. I also took a
month off my first year of business to kayak in the Atlantic, ride
bikes in Yellowstone, and witness my nephew walking for the first time.
- I've got a thing for donuts, naps, and fake moustaches.
- My clients say they knew they wanted to work with me. Like,
in their gut.
Would a successful business owner trained to entertain and persuade
people using words—and can teach you how to do it, too—be useful to
your business?
"Within 5 minutes of our
first conversation, I knew I was going to hire Stephanie. I began to
exhale and feel less anxious; it was clear that she knew what to ask
and how to write. On the spot, she turned my rambling answers
into concise, heartfelt, powerful language. Her rapid
ability to capture the essence of my business through just a few
questions, demonstrated to me that she has a gift.
Don't put off creating or
recreating your website – hire Stephanie. She'll make the experience
seamless and you will feel heard and supported. She really cares. I
can't wait to partner with her on more projects."
- Maripatt Abbott, Founder
and Coach, Manifesting Possibilities
Yes, and how much is it?
There are copywriters out there who charge their clients upwards of
$15,000 or more to write sales pages for their clients.
When clients hire me to write a sales page for them, it's over $2,500.
And while I've spent thousands of dollars myself on learning how to
write copy that gets people to take action, it's really important to me
to help more people learn how to do it right.
Not everyone needs – or wants— a "done for you" service. Sometimes you
just want someone to
make sense of what you're seeing others do, and
give you
step-by-step instructions for how to do it yourself.
Sometimes you just want a
good guide.
For this reason, Charm School for Sales Pages is $397. I've been told
that I could charge more for everything that I'm teaching, but I really
want to keep the price low so that you can participate.
There's also an Early Bird Discount. If you register before midnight ET
on Friday, February 25, 2011, you'll save $100—making your price $297.
I like this program a lot, but
I can't afford it.
Well, okay. But think this statement through a little bit before you
go.
One of the reasons I hire people and invest heavily in coaching and
mentorship is that I know it will take me
a whole lot longer to figure
it out on my own.
I'm no longer willing to waste my own time like that… I've learned that
I
have to stretch in order to grow my business and acquire new skills.
Usually it's not comfortable, but—hey—who said life is about staying in
your comfort zone?
The thing is, learning to write the way you'll learn in Charm School
will make you money over time, because
these techniques work.
My
Personal 100% Risk-Free Guarantee
I want
you to be MORE than satisfied with the information delivered in the
Charm School for Sales Pages program. If you complete your
pre-homework, attend the first class of the Charm School program, and
participate in the class, and you aren't happy with the program, I'm
happy to refund your tuition in full. You've got nothing to lose!
I stand behind all of my programs with total certainty.
So are you ready? Is it finally time to make your life easier by
getting people to register, sign up and buy directly from your website?
Give yourself the gift of not going it alone – and reap the rewards of
learning how to use smart sales copy in your business.
See you at Charm School!
